Christmas Miracle

My husband and I just returned home from the hospital this morning. Our dear friend ran his boat aground on the islands off our coast and suffered a head injury that left him unconscious.

So many seemingly "small" things happened that led to his rescue but that might have never happened had certain things not been put into play. A persistent wife pleading for someone to look for her husband, a rescue crew boarding the boat despite the danger of high surf and treacherous rocks being so great that had they decided otherwise, would not have discovered him laying un-responsive in the cabin of his fishing boat. His decision to return to the boat to make one more mayday call after being battered on the rocky shore. This Father of three just lost his own Father last week, he is a giving, kind, generous human being who loves the Lord, his family and the hurting, he was spared for reasons unknown but which we are grateful.

Tonite he remains unconscious suffering from hypothermia and shock but his recovery is promising. We know that soon we will be able to laugh and joke and tease him about his "experience" in the hospital where he normally cares for others and is now under the watchful eye of those he is usually in charge of, and we are grateful, grateful for the opportunity to re-evaluate our own lives and be amazed that we were able to witness a miracle of great proportions this Christmas season.

peace, joy, and grateful hearts to all,

~j~
